Oyedepo Reiterates CU’s Commitment To Produce World Class Graduates

…………Says Examination Malpractice Attracts Expulsion

The Chancellor Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State, Dr. David Oyedepo has disclosed that the validity of the mode of teaching adopted by the university has helped to showcase their products around the world.

According to him, the university is raising generation of leaders through qualitative education built on sound Biblical principles bringing forth the combination of Pathfinders, pacesetters and trail blazers.

Speaking at the 18th matriculation ceremony for the 2019/2020 academic session for undergraduate and post graduates programmes at the weekend, Bishop Oyedepo said:

“At Covenant we are poised to raise new generation of leaders who shall redeem the battered image of the black race and restore with a lot of hope as these trained powerful reformers begin to build the image and repair the wastage of the cities.”

Oyedepo added that the university three mandates of raising a new generation of leaders through a qualitative and life applicable training system, built on sound biblical principles and those to restore African’s lost glory are achieved through it’s core values of Spirituality, Possibility Mentality, Capacity Building, Integrity, Responsibility, Diligence and Sacrifice.

He therefore told the new students to adhere strictly to rules in the university especially to the custom made courses which includes Total Man Concept, Entrepreneurial Studies and the Leadership Development Studies.

” Here at Covenant University we believe that whatever capacity we are building it takes integrity to pursue it. 

“For instance here at CU among others, examination malpractice is considered a capital offence and every perpetrator automatically loses his or her place in the university,” he explained.

The Chancellor also admonished the parents to ensure their wards align with the institution’s goals so that they can be listed among leaders from Covenant University.

The Vice-chancellor, Prof. Aaron Atayero earlier in his speech said the event is the culmination of the admission process which confers on the matriculants the full privileges to experience the institution’s Total -Man higher education brand.

“We equip our students with the spiritual, mental and physical capacity to positively impact their world, having pledged to the oath of allegiance, to observe the Covenant University culture.”

He said the institution’s exceptional curriculum is delivered through modern teaching and research facilities.

This fact according to him is evidenced by the quality of graduates ranked by STUTERN as most employable graduates among all Nigerian universities.

STUTERN is a Lagos-based start-up and online platform that carries out studies on employment in Nigeria.

He further disclosed that the university continue to be a leading tertiary institution in Entrepreneurial education, in October 2019, she was nominated by Nigeria Entrepreneur Awards as the most outstanding Higher Institution of the year.

“Also, in recognition of Covenant as a leading university, she has been selected to host postgraduate scholars under the auspices of Queen Elizabeth Commonwealth Scholarship for 2019/2020 cycle.”

Atayero added that presently, Covenant ranks in the 401-500 bracket in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking for 2020.

” The impact ranking places the university in the elite group vofvTop 1.2% of universities globally.”

Congratulating the new students, the VC said the ceremony signifies an undertaking on the part of the university to avail them a premium learning experience.

He however added that as they proceed in their academic pursue they should take their responsibility very serious.

A total of 1,860 students comprising 1,672 undergraduates and 188 postgraduatesmatriculated at the ceremony.
