…….To Represent Nigeria At Seedstars Regional Summit In Johannesburg December
Three winners emerged at the official launch of the seed space growth lab while the best of them; Crop2Cash was awarded a flight ticket to represent Nigeria at the Seedstars regional summit coming up in Johannesburg in December 2019.
It was a grand event at the official launch of the lab which was marked with the hosting of the Seedstars competition where 10 startups pitched their businesses.
The General Manager of Seedstars Nigeria, Alessia Balducci expressed her excitement saying that Seedstars saw an opportunity with Nigeria since the beginning till date making this its 7th edition of the Seedstars World Lagos and is in Nigeria to stay as they at Seedstars is interested in the ecosystem, which has constantly proved feasible given the growth they have experienced with various start-ups. She said this has been a really amazing journey.
The special guest of the occasion was Oscar N. Onyema, the Chief Executive Officer of The Nigerian Stock Exchange who congratulated the startups and desscribed how impressed he was listening to all the startup pitches.
He revealed that the NSE and Seedstars have a partnership which is aimed at accelerating the good work done by the organisation.
He explained further that the NSE has an innovation hub which is trying to solve problems within the capital market such as; how to get a lot more people to participate, how to simplify the process of investing and how to help people create a significant board.
He re-iterated that the NSE has a growth board he is hoping to see the emerging brands and startups list on someday and don’t have to wait till the ideas or businesses become big like Dangote before listing on the growth board.
Oscar encouraged Seedstars to visit the NSE innovation hub and also reassured the Multinational of a continuous and fruitful partnership following their expertise in identifying great minds and helping them build a platform to allow large scale financing.
The Pitchdeck was led by a panel of resourceful individuals and a rich portfolio such as; Laura Li Senior Investment Manager Transsion, Fola Olatunji-David Google Launchpad Africa, Chike Asiodu MD, Text Nigeria and General Manager of Seedstars Nigeria, Alessia Balducci.
The winners at the competition are; Crop to Cash, Doctora and Traders of Africa TOFA.
In a chat with BV, the winner of the event who earned a ticket to represent Nigeria at the Seedstars regional summit; Mr Micheal Ogundare founder of Crops 2 Cash said that he was speechless and would appreciate if we give him time to coordinate his thoughts as he expressed his gratitude with excitement to God despite the challenges with his slides during his pitch.
Other winners at the event celebrated irrespective of their position and wished the winner a successful turnout in Johannesburg.
